Four horse-like beasts raced across a wide open plain, in pursuit of a pack of wild telkurs, their hooves pounding against the yellow grass. The beasts, called roka, had wooden planks strapped to their chest, jutting forward in front of them, propelling seats on wheels that bore armed men.
